STUBAI - Austrian made, finely honed, the standard #55 Series carving tool from Stubai has an internal steel ferrule to minimise splitting.
STUBAI - The #5538 series are SHORT BENT, REVERSE GRIND gouges with a #8 flute or sweep.
Note: The code explained. For a tool designated for example as as a #553812, the 55 is the SERIES, 38 is the PATTERN & CURVATURE OR SWEEP and 12 is the nominal WIDTH in mm at the tip.
Back bent gouges are a specialty tool for working convex surrfaces such as mouldings or rope or plant forms.
